Making Websites Turn A Profit

I remember when all us ‘geeks’ started building websites for internet viewers. They were ugly and they were created in raw code.

Back then, the only one who knew how to turn a profit on a website was Marlon Sanders.

Now even though I was part geek I also had a savvy enough business mind to know that if I wanted to learn how to make a website turn a profit I had to learn it from someone who was already succeeding! So I begged Marlon to hire me…but that’s a whole other story. An old story. 10 years old to be exact!

How Websites Earn Money

Ten years later I’ve seen it, done it, tried it, watched it, consulted on it, read (and wrote!) about it – in as many markets as I had an interest in.

I’ve had a lot of interests…the largest of which was how to make websites earn their keep!

The most important lesson of all those years is that different markets make money, well, differently! That’s why one-size-fits-all, generic advice that you find online doesn’t always fit, won’t always work, for your business.

How will your website make money? Selling digital products? Selling services that you perform from home? Showcasing your offline business’ products or services? Selling advertising space? Need me to go on?

How to Improve Your Website’s Profit Margin

The second most important lesson? Good marketing improves every business. And again, the trouble with this lesson is that the determination of which type of marketing is right for your business also isn’t a one-size-fits-all.

Article marketing? Email Marketing? Search engine marketing? Pay per click marketing? Social network marketing? Need me to go on?

The Most Important Lesson of All

Every website, every business, is as individual as the person who created, dreamt of, or maintains it. As such it requires a unique assessment and plan of action to increase it’s profitability.

You should attempt to assess your website – where you’re at, what you’re currently doing, and what your next steps are – at least quarterly. If it’s not in profit then you should do this immediately.

If I had an easy answer for you, a road map, a book that answered all your questions about marketing, I’d suggest it. The truth is though, as I stated above, every website requires a unique approach.

At the moment I am offering my assistance through email consultation to website owners who are not earning a profit – for free. (This is my way of paying back the Marlon Sanders’ types who helped me understand how to make money online.)

Can I help you with your website? There’s only one way to find out…

Leave an introductory note below telling me about your website and we’ll take it from there.
