Turning Interests Into An Online Income
So many of my friends think I’m living the dream by working at home, without a boss, without the 9 to 5 commute and commitment but few are ready to make the necessary steps to do what so many entrepreneurs had to do to get here. Step out in faith. And no, I don’t mean you should pray about your business ideas and hope God answers you with the perfect work at home idea (although I guess it couldn’t hurt) – but I do mean to start taking positive action towards creating the perfect work at home job for yourself.
Maybe you have a friend like me, a friend who keeps telling you to stop working to make someone else rich and start working for yourself. Maybe your friend consults with you to give you the confidence and tools you need to create the perfect work at home job experience for yourself – and you, like so many of my own friends, are just dragging your feet and not moving forward…
What could the problem be here? Why shouldn’t you profit from your ideas instead of your boss or the company who employs you?
You know you want this, you keep thinking about it, you know that you’ll never get financially where you deserve to be with a weekly paycheck. BUT – you’re stuck. Which business would you start or service would you offer?
Well then, before you pack in your weekly paycheck, take the time to evaluate yourself and your future. You’ve got to get down and dirty and don’t take any prisoners honesty to change your life for the better. Soul searching and self-assessment is required here, so let’s start.
First off, you di know that you have the potential to do and be anything you want, correct? Although everyone has a different perception of the ideal life (living the dream), you have to decide for yourself what your dream life looks like. Unfortunately, many fail to reach their perfect life because they can’t get a solid, clear picture in their mind of what they want. So take the next few days and embark on a fact-finding journey that will be a life-changing experience. Spend your commuting time (as long as you’re not driving) or your lunch hour on this for a few days.
Get a pad and pencil and start with this first step:
KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT
Be specific with your answers.
- What makes your heart beat with excitement?
- What makes you incredibly happy to see, do, or be a part of?
- What captivates your mind and imagination day and night?
- How do you want to spend the rest of your life?
- What tasks do you enjoy doing?
- What are your personal, familial, hobby-related, obsessions?
Write down all your possible answers to the above questions.
Everything, no matter how silly or unimportant.
When that’s done, go back and circle five to seven items that interest you the most. Then evaluate and choose with your heart, not your mind, the one and only thing worthy to spend all your time and resources on and that brings out the best in you.
Now you may wind up with something like, “I want to win an Olympic Gold Medal.” If you’re not yet an athlete I’d say your ability to turn this interest into a work at home income, but you could create a business or website that is related to fitness, health or sports. Or perhaps an online sporting goods retail business, sports memorabilia, or becoming a fitness trainer could be your answer. You can always read books and surf the net to help you in your search.
The most important thing to remember, no matter how ‘out there’ your dream might seem, the lesson here is to find your passion and learn to turn it into a business or work at home opportunity that you love. Others may disagree but this is your dream. Others may offer advice, but the final decision is always yours to make. You should concentrate on what you want, not what others want.
Remember you only get one shot at living your life. There are no replays and you don’t get to do it over. You may not do it right, but at least you’re doing it. Too many lives have been lived in quiet desperation waiting until – until they had saved a nest egg, until the children are out of school, until they retire, and they depart this life before their ‘until’ ever happens.
Don’t go to sleep tonight without making a decision to do the work involved in discovering your interests and beginning to brainstorm on how to turn those interests into an income. Once you’ve completed the exercise, spend a few days evaluating how to make it possible and make a living at it. Begin living every day as if it were the last day you had – never leaving anything to be done next week, next month, or next year. Or for that matter, any other ‘until’ you can think of.
There will always be bills, things will always break down eventually and need replacing. There may be children’s braces to pay for and an earthquake on the horizon, but there will only be one life for you to love every moment of how you spend it.
The final outcome of your efforts may be in the future, but you’re living each day by taking steps toward that outcome you too, will be living the dream – yours.

The current economic situation is compelling many of us to take this jump into a home-based business… It isn’t a 9 to 5 commitment, though.. more like 6:30 (am) to 10:00 (pm)!
Still, if it is what you enjoy, it just doesn’t seem like work.
You are right about that ‘one shot at life.’ Time to take it!
