French Country Decorating Style - Lamps!

in Country Home Decor

Specialty or theme lamps are an easy way to incorporate the French Country Decor style into your home, without spending a bundle.

The style is cozy, warm and relaxing with just a touch of personal style and whimsical features peeking through. This part shabby-chic, part 'garden-comes-in', part French country decorating style, literally has its roots in the hillsides of rural France.

You'll see beautifully shaped moldings (not too ornate), cabriole shaping and sculpted rails with some painted ironwork. Matching fabrics to go with the style are toile, roses of all colors, and floral wreaths. Roosters are a common theme in both fabrics and decorative accents.

The French Country decorating style is one of the most popular trends today and is growing in popularity in many of the decorating classes and magazines.

The French Country style is now one of the most popular looks in home decor.

It is both cozy and rustic. A warm and inviting style that has its roots in the hillsides of rural France. (The farmhouses that grow fields of lavender come to mind!)

Colors that abound in fabrics and accessories to match the look are in reds, blues, yellows and greens. Furniture styles are such as rush seats that are flanked by colorful pottery and earthenware pots - warm and rich tones to accent any room!

French Country Lamps

Here's a few French Country lamps that fit this decorating style. They are available online along with many other styles.

I was hunting for fresh ideas for a makeover and almost got lost in the selection of French country decorating theme lamps. If you head over to the site, make sure you navigate by the buttons on the top of the page or by using the search feature or you could be found hours later completely bug-eyed over the endless selection!

I eventually choose a new chandelier (you can see it on this page) and a few of the lamps below (2 that matched and one just for fun!).

Examples of French Country Lamps

The first two I considered were a bit shabby chic and upscale which, although they won't go in the same room together, they both fit in with the French Country theme.

Also, I know they will grow with me if I choose later to change the theme. These lamps will go anywhere at any time with just a lampshade change.

I just couldn't resist this whimsical lamp with the two birds perched on it!

It's just that touch of eclectic-ness I mentioned above.

But the lamp on the right is the true winner - it has it all - charm, sophistication, class, and a timeless appeal. It comes in a really nice buttery cream color as well. (Which fits in with other rooms in the house.)

See a wide selection with the links below. Search from any page for 'country' or 'romantic' styles - you'll probably want to surf both as each one fits into the French country decorating style, but one might be more in tune with your personal tastes.
