Making Simple Wines At Home
in Home Cooking
At some time or another in your life you likely wondered how to make wine and if you could do it at home.
Perhaps you've even ordered a make wine at home kit, or found a local wine-making store nearby and tried one of their kits.
If so, you were delighted with the results. Delighted enough to be surfing online for more information because you're ready to make wine at home the old fashioned way.
This segment of the Country Living website is focused on 'Making Wine In Your Home'.
It is not meant to be a thorough guide. You'll likely never know all you need to know about making wine anyway - unless you own a few books on the subject and have determined that you only enjoy one or two different flavors, anyway.
I'd like to draw your attention to the ebook in the middle column though, before we go on, because this ebook, (no I didn't write it), has a pile of recipes, processes and all the how to information within that will take you near expert status on making wine at home over time. Plus, you'll have a handy resource, always on your computer, whenever you need a question answered or a new and exciting wine recipe.
So if you've decided you want to try your hand at wine first, before ordering any ebooks or books, let's get busy...
Making Wine At Home - Let's Get Started
Making wine at home requires very little money, and not much effort. It does however, require a bit of time, but this is due to the fermenting process and isn't something you'd want to rush anyway.
The supplies required for making wine, could be one of your biggest obstacles, but you don't have to go all fancy and order the best and the latest gadgets to get the job done.
The simple methods we're going to investigate are written out for beginner wine makers, who do not know how to get started, do not have the money for ebook and book purchases right now, as well as for those with some experience making wine, but who often run into difficulties and disappointments with their batches.
The making of top-quality wines is very simple, yet not so simple that you can be reckless about it.
You'll first want to start with a good recipe - this may or may not be a recipe handed down from generations or found in the back of an old magazine. Use the wrong or an unproven recipe and process and you could end up ruined batches, cloudy and acid wines, or vinegar.
If this has already happened to you, there is a perfectly good reason for it. Whatever the reason for your ruined batch of home made wine we'll try to get to the bottom of it in these pages or at least get you started with a more suitable recipe and process!
Country Living Simple - Making Wine at Home
Remember, I like to keep things simple, both in my life, on my website and with my wine making. You however may like to delve more into the complicated scientific and chemical mixtures and tests in your wine-making in time. If so, my recipes will likely bore you to tears - although they'll taste delicious. Wine-making at home can be a challenge - a battle of wills, between the wine and the maker - and as such can become very expensive.
At any rate you will find on this site some of those more specialized tests and processes. I've posted them in order to help others understand why their wines turned out less than perfect, but you do not need to pull out your grade 10 science notes to understand it all, I'll keep it simple, and that's my country girl promise!
