Why Rustic Lighting?
Imagine you’ve just stepped into a rustic retreat, untouched for years…
Back then, people decorated with materials on hand, items found in the forest, or through long hours of hand-crafting. Deer antlers adorned or formed the rustic styled chandeliers. Pine cones and gnarled branches wrap around floor lamps and the furniture was hand-hewn from local logs.

This is so much better in person. Stunning evening look chandelier with northern trees, bears and landscape. Click image for a close up...
Lighting Styles for Your Rustic Retreat or Log Cabin
Little else will make you feel more relaxed or at peace then being surrounded by the natural elements and time worn accents of the rustic decorating trend.
Now you don’t have to spend hours scouring antique lighting shops, building your own rustic furniture, or buying pieces that need expensive repairs.
These days there are a lot of newly fashioned lights that will give you the desired look and feel for any room in your house.
All of the chandeliers here are really nice examples of modern rustic lighting.
This is the one my friend Jenni picked when we were shopping around for her new weekend retreat reno.
You can find this same chandelier, or one similar – there’s actually lots to choose from…
Log cabin, cottage or rustic decorating is so much fun, it’s hard to believe we haven’t brought it back into style earlier!
Rustic Light Fixtures
Here’s two other rustic lighting fixtures that I saved for Jenni to look at when I was helping her replace outdated cabin lighting! (The cabin came with aluminum and plastic lights from the 50s so we had to do something!)

I found many more rustic chandeliers to choose from over at PrimitiveCountryDecor.com.
It got even better when we started hunting around and finding more accessories and lamps, furniture to match, and so on. She couldn’t buy everything she wanted but she loaded up the UPS guy’s van and in less than a week we had gorgeous rustic lighting installed at the cottage!
I’ve only showed you three examples here. There’s many more antler or log cabin inspired rustic chandeliers on the site. Click the link above to see them all.
Here’s what you’re looking for if you’re shopping around for rustic lighting…
Anything that looks organic, or depicts a country scene (remember back in the old days their days were filled with nature and survival). As well, consider anything made of man-made materials that were readily available back then, such as tin (punched tin lights were all the rage and are hard to come by in antique shops but many reproductions are available today).

Oh! And check out these rustic light ideas…
A little cowboy lamp (doesn’t that remind you of your grand parents?) and the bear lamp is just too charming!
Who would have thought I’d ever get so excited over lights?
