Country Decorating with Garden Accents

When spring rolls around our attention is often turned to the out of doors and decorating the garden – when we’re not gazing out the windows, we’re enjoying the great outdoors.

It’s my favorite time of year, but just because autumn eventually returns doesn’t mean you can’t still get that joyous feeling. Elongate the summer weeks by bringing the garden in. It’s relatively easy to do, just pack it up, brush it off, and bring it indoors!

Some Garden Accents Go Great In The House

Everyone else might put traditional garden accents in the garden, then in the shed when autumn rolls around, but that doesn’t mean you have to follow suit!

Here’s a tip to make your home friendly and inviting: create your own garden room – indoors – by simply adding a few garden accessories. You can find all kinds of great ideas for your bedroom, living room, hallway or den!

  • A garden bird feeder statue easy performs double duty as a candle stand or change dish on the dresser.
  • Imagine the pineapple fountain below bubbling away in your master bath or hallway! And I guess, if your bathroom were large enough, it would look really cool in there too!Garden accents - birds.
  • How about those little birds? Wouldn’t they be cute on a window sill or on book shelves?

That’s just a few items and a few ideas. I’m sure you can think of more…

Indoor-Outdoor Seating

You might like to find some Adirondack Chairs. Now available in a rocking chair style (nothing says country more than a nice comfortable rocking chair).

Adirondack chairs go just as easily inside as they do outside. Great country cottage look.

These are most fun when painted in a variety of colors – pastels or bright colors. Set them up in a sunroom or as an occasional chair and table placed near a sunny window. Works equally as well on the deck or patio.

How About Country Decorating with Garden Statues and Feeders?

So many to chose from. Will you go whimsical or more realistic? Garden statues have come a long way in selection over the last few years and are great for English cottage decorating as well as the more traditional American country decorating.

Garden accent: Rabbit statue.

Choose a statue or two that makes you smile and place it somewhere that you’ll see it every day. It doesn’t need to be on the front door stoop – they’re just as charming when they’re at the foot of your bed!

Here’s the bird feeder statue I was thinking would make a good change dish or candle holder.

Garden accents do double duty inside - when the weather turns, bring them in for a whimsical country decorating accent.

One of my favorite collections are birds cast in iron, stone, clay, ceramic, even plastic if they’re well made. These are just so whimsical in the garden or in your house. I guess you could say they’re my passion – the thing I love to collect almost as much as farm animals (garden bird statues are ‘pets’ you don’t need to feed!)

Garden fountains aren’t just for outdoors!

Grab a gorgeous pineapple fountain, or a solar powered angel fountain…they look just as stately in a hallway as they do in the garden – plus you’d get the melodic water sounds all day as you move throughout your home or sleep at night.

I found some great fountain deals at the Attract Wild Birds website. Many gorgeous designs at less than $40…
