These are the most established work at home business scams, and they've been going for decades now.

Here's how it works...you're sucked in by the promise that you can watch television all day and still make money (since the work is easy and doesn't require any concentration). You either pay your money and sign up, or sign up for free (it barely matters because you lose in the long run), you’re then sent a business kit to get you started.

Whether you sign up any new 'home based workers', tire of the work, or find something better, you'll find that very few make any real money off these home business ideas.

Crafting From Home - Legitimate Business Opportunity or Not?

There are two ways to craft at home as a home based business. One is legitimate, the other is a scam. Making your own crafts at home and selling them online, at eBay, or in local craft shows and stores, is a legitimate home based business that can make you money. For some, big money.

But, working for a company that sends you free materials to piece together (they pay you for your work upon your return of the finished items) is more often than not, a scam. This is most commonly associated with making clothes, Christmas ornaments, wire jewelry or children's toys.

It all seems legit and upfront at start up, but when you send the work back, the company sends back a note that the quality of work didn't meet their standards, so you don't get paid! They of course, go on to sell what you made for a tidy profit.

Home Typing, Medical Transcriptions and Others Like It

Another common opportunity that doesn't pan out. It centers around persuading you that one industry or another has more work than they can keep up with and are looking to outsource to home based business opportunity seekers. The opportunity is wide open for you if you buy their recommended computer system or their specialized software application in order to do the work. 

Make no mistake, there are legitimate freelance opportunities for those who want to work from home - but they only require the equipment and software that you already have.
