Paper Crafts - Scrap Books

in Country Crafts

If you're into scrap booking at all you likely found out fast how expensive this hobby can be! This is especially for the truly beautiful designs available in the paper craft section of your favorite store.

The art of scrap booking has now officially captured the hearts and wallets of the crafting community. But many equally beautiful and unique designs can be made inexpensively if you take some of your artistic talent and stream it into a cost-conscious mentality. Here's a few pointers...

Use Leftover Paper and Gift Wrapping Supplies

There's no better memory left behind in a scrap book than items from the actual event, whether it be a wedding, graduation or award ceremony. For instance you could journal any event with notes from attendees strategically placed on your scrap book's pages. Wedding pages turn into gorgeous works of art when invitations, napkins, ribbons, or gift paper is used. The same goes for baby or bridal showers.

Which reminds me...you don't need to use leftover gift wrap or greeting card cutouts from the actual event in your scrap book. Use appropriate pieces of any gift paper to frame or embellish your pages. This is a great way to collect paper crafting materials inexpensively!

Buy Often Used Paper Supplies in Bulk

This tip goes hand in hand with the scrap book club idea above, but even if you don't want to join a group you can still save money buying in bulk. When you’re  shopping, either online or in a savings store, look for basic papers or stamp sets that will work for multiple projects. This way you save time and gas, and your works of art will be truly unique!

Beautiful Scrapbook Patterns

One of my favorite ways to save on scrap book patterns is to buy scrap book magazines - they're full of ideas.

Of course don't forget about finding ideas and patterns online for free or very affordable. You can download patterns that you print yourself on plain paper or a thicker card stock. You'll have to click over to my friend Deborah's scrap-booking  site. I especially love the printable templates she offers.

Just remember, great scrap books don’t have to cost a fortune!

Leave Your Money at Home When You Go to Craft Stores

Paper craft stores that specialize in scrap book supplies aren’t the only places that sell the fancy embellishments you desire for your pages. Local dollar stores, department store chains and, believe it or not, eBay will net you some great bargains. Check out the eBay auctions that I've scouted out for you below. You’ll be amazed at the number of big ticket, but definitely affordable items in any of these sources.
