The hatcheries listed can be sourced online or by state using the phone numbers or websites listed.
In Canada, and perhaps in America as well, the easiest place to order your baby chickens from are any local feed supply store.
These country stores have regular shipments of baby chicks and pullets coming in on pre-order. The poultry supplier is usually a government regulated and industry respected distributor. Check your yellow pages or ask a local chicken farmer for their recommendation on where to find chickens for sale.
I’ve also listed a few of them here as well to help you get started. Quite a few of these hatcheries carry a wide variety of chickens, ducks, guinea hens and other poultry and exotic birds.
From specialty bantams and silkie breeds, meat birds and ‘easter-egger’ laying hens and roosters – to ducks, and turkeys and guineas and more!
A Partial List to Order Chickens
Although chickens can be shipped directly to your home from anywhere (except across a country’s border) it is always wise to choose a supplier in your home state.
You might also like to try your local Feed and Seed, Country Co-op or any distributor of livestock feed in your area. These feed manufacturers and distributors are also ‘in the know’ of where to find a flock (or just a few) chickens for sale.
